2015 Road Trip, Day 21: Over the Hill

Today, it wasn't a literal hill, but a figurative one.  It's my 40th birthday.  I remember when my parents turned 40 and it seemed "old."  Not so much anymore!

After a LONG day on the road yesterday, today we slept in.  To work out some of our wigglies, we went swimming, and then headed back to our room for sandwiches before going back out.  Today we visited the Titanic museum here in Pigeon Forge.  It was really well done, but unfortunately they didn't allow any photographs, so I don't have anything to share.

What I do have pictures to share from are dinner.  I got to meet one more "food allergy friend," and her family.

This is Amanda.  She's been my computer friend for close to 6 years now.  I'm so excited we finally got to meet!

But first, we had to get to Cracker Barrel.  Regardless of your opinion on the Confederate flag, the fact remained that this convoy was in the right lane, between us and the restaurant.  For about half a mile, I was the Yankee - Jersey plates on the front and back of my car - without a flag in the parade.

Both kids and grownups had a good time.   Her son has a feeding tube as well, and he and Damien started comparing tubey apparatus right away.

Celia says she's going to miss Amanda's daughter.  I'm going to miss all of them.

As for turning 40...well, I turned 30 sitting in Celia's hospital room, when she was first admitted to figure out what was going on with her, and most of the next decade at the hospital.  I'm hoping that turning 40 on the road means I'm going to have lots of not-hospital adventures for the next decade!  Bring it, 40s!
