5 Field Trips to Celebrate Independence

Some of our favorite field trips have been studying American History.  For Independence Day, we are sharing our top five, along with related quotes from voices of freedom.  If you would like to know more about them, click on the location names.

  2. I toured Mt. Vernon in 7th grade, but haven't visited any of the other places. I'd like to take my kids to all of them.

  3. I have always wanted to visit Mt. Vernon. We did do some sight seeing in Philly when we lived in that area and the girls were so small but we did take a trip to Gettysburg. We've not been in the area since 9/11. When we were there there was no memorial because the Twin Towers were still intact. What a need a idea for a blog post to share American History Field Trips!

  5. What a fun round up. My children are so into early American history right now. Hopefully, I will find a way to visit some of these places one day before their passion for the topic subsides. And, if I don't, perhaps a later visit will bring their passion back!

  10. When my oldest visited the Statue of Liberty on a school trip in 2007, my hubby took a picture of him and the towers were gone--just a big hole in the background. When we went back this fall, the new tower was there...it's amazing to look at the pictures side by side.
