Do not fear for the Lord is with you.

I command you: be strong and steadfast. Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

I do not like bridges.  AT ALL.  This is the Delaware Memorial Bridge.   I drive over this bridge several days each week to get to duPont Hospital in Wilmington, DE.  This picture and verse have two meanings for me.

The first and obvious meaning is God will keep us safe as I drive.  He will see us safely to our destination, and then safely home.

The second is the bridge is a gateway. Some days are "routine" visits (if one can have a "routine" check-in with a neurosurgeon!), and some days involve adjustments in treatment plans. If we're lucky, the change is a slight adjustment in medication, or new orthotics because the old ones are outgrown.  Some days, though, the verdict is "We need to dig deeper to find answers, because we have new questions."  Those days are the hard ones -- no matter how often the outcome of a visit is a referral to a different specialist, it still is blindsiding to admit there are more problems, but God still is with me as I make the rounds at the hospital.

  1. Stopping by from Barbie's over at The Weekend Brew! Oh my... this picture reminded me of a photo we took while driving over the Golden Gate bridge... I share the same - uh - resistance to bridges! Praying for you... and that God will guide you to the bridge that will be the gateway to healing!

  2. I use to be so afraid of bridges. I tried to hard to hurry around people to get off of them. Thankfully, they don't bother me today. I am so thankful the Lord is our safe place and we need not fear. Thank you for linking up with the Weekend Brew. Praying for your family.

  5. What a great image for that verse. I'm praying for you now as you are crossing the bridge, for you to remember God's words you shared as you face the doctors next week.

  6. I am fortunate, bridges, as long as I am in a car, are not one of the things I am afraid of. But I have quite a few fears that I need to remember to keep this verse in my mind for.

Thanks for sharing with Throwback Thursday Blog-Style. Sorry it took me so long to come visit.
